Behaviour-Based Safety Case Study

Background:

Behaviour Based Safety is an initiative of one of the largest players in the cement sector to fulfill the vision of zero harm.
It ran successfully for five consecutive years across plants. This included the safety ambassadors, zone owners and most of the employees across levels, from managers to workers.

Issue:

  • The number of accidents was not reducing, even after providing technical training for the employees.
  • The employees could not identify where they were making the mistakes, which led to the accidents.

Our Intervention:

  • Our session was designed for a day and a half, with elements of theatre, movement and one-on-one connection.
  • The first-day session included theatre and movement, through storytelling. This session was an eye-opener for the participants to realise the impact of their actions on others’ safety.
  • The half-day was a one-on-one connection time with each participant. This was a powerful tool in helping them identify their mindsets, which hindered the vision of zero harm inside the company.
