Emotional Fool?

Emotions are a powerful force and if used positively can create miracles.

Investing emotions in people and relationships by putting oneself completely into the process can be very powerful and drive change.

History has given us innumerable examples of this phenomenon.

However, organisations tend to value and reward the Intellect. The sharp knife that can cut everything into pieces. The knife is a powerful tool and is of prime importance for various tasks, but imagine if we use the knife across the board it could cause misfortune and that’s happening as well.

We would need the entire tool kit and could use it as the need arises. The problem we’re facing today is we’ve already decided which is a useful tool and which is useless. We have our personal favourites. Irrespective of the situation we use our favourite tool, but criticize and belittle others who choose differently.

Is one better than the other; Intellect or Emotions?

An emotional person could be seen as weak. This tends to happen because they become emotionally charged and reactive as they are so deeply seated in the emotional space and unaware of how they seem to react to different situations. They struggle with keeping a distance between their emotions and the situation.

Let’s take the example of Bheem from the Mahabharat.

The way Bheem fought the Kureksherrta war was not purely because of his physical strength. He was so emotionally charged and used his Raudraor Anger against the Kauravas and it became an unrelenting brute force. This is an example of how emotions can move mountains.

Another interesting example is when Draupadi is insulted, she chooses to tell Bheem about the incident. Bheem drowned in his emotions reacts and kills the offender in a split without thinking of the consequences.

This could be one of the reasons why most emotional people tend to make errors. To be unaware of how their emotions are being used by others. That’s why it could be seen as a weakness.

The emotional lot needs to understand how powerful this gift truly is.

Perhaps, the only error that could be happening, is driving the spaceship without reading the user’s manual.

It’s important not to get carried away by emotions when invaders enter and misuse this powerful space. Instead, realize how gifted you are and use it intelligently, like a brute force and create magic.

To bring any change it’s imperative to touch the feeling space.

Emotions are potent and easily make the required dent.

So please let’s not try and become a knife but complement the knife in the tool kit.

The tool kit would be incomplete without you.

One can’t replace the other; both are equally potent.
